CD REVIEW ON ARTISTSILOVE > Thanks to Tom McCready over at Artists I Love for the CD review. Here it is:

When you slip this CD into your player, the first thing that strikes you when listening to the opening song 'Fate Won't Wait', is how tight this band is. Minnesota band Terramara has released an exceptionally well-done CD called 'Dust & Fiction'. Twelve crisp, melodic songs, beautifully produced by Jon Herchert make this a CD we highly recommend.

'The Other Shoe' and 'Blue Revolution' grabs you by the seat of the pants and refuses to let go. The fourth track, 'Solar Meltdown', exemplifies the bands approach ie. smart lyrics and powerpop melodies combining to satisfy the discerning ear. 'All That I Am' 'Screaming At The Pouring Rain', and 'Burn Me Up' are all reminiscent of post-Peter Gabriel Genesis.

Rob Meany, the voice and songwriter of the band, gives a soulful and heartfelt performance throughout, especially on the angst driven track 'Burn Me Up'. The final track 'Losing My Mind' is a funky tune which shows off the chops of these great veteran musicians. Terramara puts it all on the table on this CD, and each song reveals a new musical delight.

Rob Meany (vocals, piano and keyboards), David Thomas (drums), Karl Koopman (guitar), and James Towns (bass), along with many guest musicians, team up to make this Minnesota bands third full-length CD a must-have for those who like their music edgy and creative.

USA SONGWRITING COMPETITION > Terramara is a finalist in the Rock/Alternative category of the 2008 USA Songwriting Competition for their song "Solar Meltdown". Winners will be announced on December 4th.

ARCH MAGAZINE INTERVIEW > Minneapolis music journal Arch Magazine has posted a wide-ranging interview with Terramara frontman Rob Meany. Thanks to Joe Lang for the interview.

CD REVIEW ON SWISSRECORDS > The band Terramara, fronted by Rob Meany, offers their third album with, once again, pop/rock songs that satisfy the heart and the mind. “Dust & Fiction” is, however, more catchy than the last album “Four Blocks To Hennepin" (but not in the sense of simpler).

The vocal melodies seem even more perfected, harmonized and sophisticated. There are, again, some similarities to Neal Morse, whose first solo album was also very poppy. The catchiness or commercialization (however you want to see that) goes so far that the band even permits themselves with "Screaming At The Pouring Rain" to sound like pop-era Genesis, while “Blue Revolution” quotes unconcerned Ben Folds and Billy Joel with a trace Queen in the guitars.

Songs such as “Solar Meltdown” (marvelous chorus), the modest “All That I Am”, “Burn Me Up” (again, marvelous chorus) or "Fall In Love Again" (yet again marvelous chorus) should perhaps be enjoyed without thinking about who has influenced them. “Dust & fiction” should, might, must leave a lasting impression. 8.5 points out of 10.

DUST & FICTION > Terramara's latest release is its most sonically rich album yet. While retaining its signature sound: melodic piano-based pop songs with refreshing harmonic twists and lush harmonies, the band has expanded its palette of sounds to create an album that shimmers with layered guitars and keyboards. Listen to this one with headphones. {read more}
